Toyota Cheetahs take on Cell C Sharks in a warm-up match

The Toyota Cheetahs will be making their EPCR Challenge Cup debut this season hence they’re already gearing up for the challenge through warm-up games following a successful Toyota Challenge.

The Toyota Cheetahs will face the Cell C Sharks for a warm-up game on Friday, 18 November, for the upcoming EPCR Challenge Cup. Kick-off for Friday’s encounter is at 15:00 at Hollywoodbets Kings Park, Durban.

The match will be divided into three chukkas of 30 minutes each which coach Hawies Fourie will use to see all the players in action.

Toyota Cheetahs:  Schalk Ferreira, Marnus van der Merwe, Hencus van Wyk, Mzwanele Zito, Victor Sekekete, Daniel Maartens, Oupa Mohoje, Jeandré Rudolph, Ruan Pienaar, Siya Masuku, Tapiwa Mafura, Reinhardt Fortuin, David Brits, Dan Kasende, Andell Loubser.

Replacements:  Marko Janse van Rensburg, Mzamo Majola, Marne Coetzee, Rynier Bernardo, Siba Qoma, Roelof Smit, Janus Venter, Rewan Kruger, George Lourens, Robert Ebersohn, Evardi Boshoff, Munier Hartzenberg, Cohen Jasper.

Players not eligible for selection due to injury:

Jean Droste (knee), Alulutho Tshakweni, Friedle Olivier (hamstring), Enver Brand (hamstring), Frans Steyn (knee), Thabang Mahlasi (Achilles), Andisa Ntsila (knee), Gideon van der Merwe (shoulder), Zinedine Booysen (ankle).

Aranos Coetzee will join the Toyota Cheetahs for training again on Monday, and Louis van der Westhuizen is currently with the Namibian National side.

Their second warm-up match is on Friday, 25 November, when the Toyota Cheetahs play against the Griffons in Welkom.

The Toyota Cheetahs are travelling for the EPCR Challenge Cup on the 5 December as they kick off their campaign against Section Paloise in France on 10 December before they host Scarlets a week later in Parma, Italy.

They will then travel to Llanelli to face the Welsh region on 13 January and host Pau to round off their pool stage fixtures on January 2023 in Parma.

The Toyota Cheetahs will play their two home games at the Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi in Parma, Italy. One of the conditions of participation in the 2022/23 EPCR Challenge Cup was that the Toyota Cheetahs are based in Europe.
