IPL 2022 will see new teams entering the fray. Unless IPL modifies the four-foreigner rule, it means that a minimum of fourteen more Indian cricketers will feature in the competition. A few of them could get more chances than they used to get earlier as per Cric Glitz reports. In this article, we take a look at 14 Indian cricketers who will get consistent opportunities due to the addition of 2 new teams in IPL 2022.
1) Navdeep Saini
Just a few years ago, Saini was considered as one of the components of India’s future bowling attack. However, both for Team Indian and for RCB in IPL, he did not do well. Siraj took his place in the RCB XI. Saini, though, is still a talent that can be invested upon. He is likely to get more chances from next season.
2) Kuldeep Yadav
One of the biggest beneficiaries of the 2 new teams in IPL 2022 will be Kuldeep Yadav. Despite being a capped Indian cricketer, he did not get his opportunities in KKR in recent seasons. However, it is certain that he would get more games from IPL 2022.
3) Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane played for DC only when someone was injured or was having a bad form. One of the highest run-getters in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Rahane’s experience will be useful for a few teams. His leadership skills also add value to his resume.
4) Umesh Yadav
Umesh Yadav is an experienced cricketer and can be a top performer with the new ball. This might make him an exciting option for a few teams.
5) Vishnu Vinod
A quality domestic wicket-keeper is much-needed in IPL. With 2 new teams in IPL 2022, Vishnu could get a more advanced role with one of the teams.
6) Baba Aparajith
Baba, despite his exploits in domestic cricket, is yet to make his IPL debut. However, a player of his calibre and attributes does deserve a chance. IPL 2022 could offer that.
7) K Gowtham
K Gowtham will receive more opportunities due to 2 new teams in IPL 2022. He was CSK’s costliest player at IPL 2021 Auctions and yet, failed to get a chance. However, it will not remain the same next season.
8) Vijay Shankar
Due to the fragile middle-order of SRH, Vijay Shankar was always under pressure in recent seasons. However, for Tamil Nadu, he did well and that was due to in-form players around him. If a similar environment is available for Vijay, he could find IPL form.
9) R Sai Kishore
R Sai Kishore is one of the best T20 spinners in the recent years in domestic cricket. However, he is yet to get his chance in IPL. Since he is a bowling all-rounder, he will surely get an opportunity from IPL 2022.
10) Priyam Garg
The captain of the previous Indian U19 Team, Priyam Garg is a top talent. However, unfortunately, he did not get many chances at SRH. With two more teams in the fray, the Uttar Pradesh player could fancy his chances.
11) Shreyas Gopal
Shreyas Gopal dropped out of the RR team after a run of poor form. Being a decent leg-spinner, Shreyas is likely to get more chances in IPL 2022. A few teams might also look to make use of his batting abilities.
12) Abhishek Sharma
Abhishek Sharma’s opportunities have been scattered in the previous IPL campaigns. It has also not come with a clear role. However, since there is an increased demand for multi-utility players, the Punjab youngster could get a few consistent chances from IPL 2022.
13) Siddharth Kaul
Siddharth Kaul has displayed good form in domestic competitions. But in IPL, his chances have been restricted to injury status of other cricketers. This could change from next season.
14) Rishi Dhawan
Rishi Dhawan was not part of IPL 2021. However, thanks to his stunning form in domestic cricket, he is likely to earn a contract for IPL 2022. Not stopping there, he could also feature in the playing XI of a franchise.
